Free event open to all; hosted by Chichester Tree Wardens and Transition Town Chichester, from 10am-3pm beside Chichester Festival Theatre.

Apart from information about community orchards and what’s involved, with the 14-year-old Oaklands Park Community Orchard to explore, visitors may like chatting to the National Collection Holders of Sussex apple cultivars from Hurst Meadows Heritage Orchard (at Hurstpierpoint & Sayers Common) and Stanmer Park (near Brighton, at the base of the South Downs) and to the Plant Health Inspector who will be talking to visitors about biosecurity and things to look out for. For anyone interested in biodiversity, joining Sussex Wildlife Trust’s BioBlitz to find, identify and record what’s living in the orchard/around will also be interesting for the spaces around Lavant parish, from private gardens to public places.
