Please see the below from West Sussex County Councillor Jack Lovejoy:

"Please can you circulate the consultation (linked below) for the West Sussex County Council Youth Strategy to any youth groups you have in your area, people that you know of who work with young people, parents/guardians or under 19s? We want to make sure that the consultation gets as far and wide as we can within the county and includes the voices of young people, their parents/guardians and the people who work with them as much as possible (e.g. scout/guide groups, youth sports teams, charities, youth activity groups, parent groups etc). The Consultation has two versions one for young people under 19 (or up to 25 with SEND), the other is for parents/carers, activity providers/groups, and education staff.

I strongly believe that it’s important that we get this right as two of the biggest issues that I hear about on the doorstep are related to youths; namely anti-social behaviour and e-bikes/e-scooters. I am of the opinion that both issues are due to youth boredom following the decline of third spaces (aka places where kids can go without spending money and without random people calling the police on them for looking suspicious) and the e-bikes/e-scooters are also due to the decline in reliable public transport. We want to know what children and teens are saying they want and what help they need from us. As a member of the children and young people’s services scrutiny committee I was lucky enough to meet the chair and vice-chair of the youth cabinet for West Sussex and they emphasised how important it is that these strategies are made with the input of young people and not just imposed upon them. I want Chichester to be as good as possible for people of all ages."
