Report Fly-Tipping – Chalk Pit Lane and Surrounding Areas

Chalk Pit Lane is currently affected by significant fly-tipping and the issue was discussed at the recent Lavant Parish Council meeting.

"Fly tipping is when rubbish is illegally dumped on roads or land. It is a criminal offence that costs the local taxpayer £350,000 a year, and could lead to a fine of up to £50,000 and a prison sentence for those responsible" (https://www.chichester.gov.uk/flytipping).

Residents are encouraged to report any fly-tipping on Chalk Pit Lane, or elsewhere locally, using the Chichester District Council reporting page:
https://www.chichester.gov.uk/flytipping

Reporting is straightforward and ensures incidents are logged directly with the council for investigation.

Please provide as much detail as possible:

  • Exact location

  • Description and quantity of waste

  • Date and time observed

  • Photographs, if available and safe to take

If fly-tipping is witnessed, do not intervene. Any useful details (such as vehicle registrations) should be included in the report where possible.
